Walking and Listening with Diane

Walking and Listening with Diane

The weather and moon were perfect for Mike and Diane. I always have a plan for each trip but you know nature always wins. We started by just enjoying the birds overhead, my old friend the frigate bird. The tide was really low so we pulled over to a mudflat and enjoyed the sea life that was on it. Then off to favorite spot number one. The beach was beautiful (I didn’t want to leave). It was a beautiful time of day to be on the island. The tide happened to be falling as the moon rose. Diane enjoyed every minute. I enjoyed listening to Diane’s story and how she arrived on my boat. Her story made me appreciate what I do even more. Thank you Diane for your walk and talk. I look forward to walking and listening to your stories on our next adventure.   Capt. Brian

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. In 2016 I began solely offering private small boat charters to the islands of Pine Island Sound including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Pine Island and North Captiva. I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist, licensed USCG Captain, avocational photographer, seashell enthusiast and passionate about the history, people and culture of Southwest Florida, especially Cayo Costa. I volunteer as a member of Friends of Cayo Costa State Park and have great respect for the heritage of Cayo Costa. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

Great photos…. such a variety of creatures! Especially love the arc patterns in the sand left by the wind and waves.

It was an absolutely perfect evening. I didn't want to leave either. The photos are gorgeous. I love the shell "trails". And you can bet we'll be back for another adventure. Thank you.
