Nancy

Nancy

Nancy and her family have been clients for over ten years. On this trip it was just Nancy. We spent the afternoon and evening boating, shelling, watching wildlife and listening to the sounds of nature. We shelled Avocet Island and an island north of Avocet. Then an early dinner at Nancy’s favorite restaurant and Melissa’s too, The Tarpon Lodge on Pine Island. The weather was ominous as we ate dinner. The clouds were amazing to photograph. We caught a little hole in the weather to travel back to Captiva. Nancy is always up for any adventure. We had many adventures on this trip.
Thank you Nancy for another day full of exploring and Happy Birthday!

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. In 2016 I began solely offering private small boat charters to the islands of Pine Island Sound including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Pine Island and North Captiva. I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist, licensed USCG Captain, avocational photographer, seashell enthusiast and passionate about the history, people and culture of Southwest Florida, especially Cayo Costa. I volunteer as a member of Friends of Cayo Costa State Park and have great respect for the heritage of Cayo Costa. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

I thought I recognized Avocet Island! Hope you had the island to yourself this time. 🙂 Loved the cloud photos.

It was a beautiful and very relaxing day on the water! I enjoyed every minute!! The gulf was so calm, the water as clear as I have ever seen it and the colors absoutely gorgeous. Dinner at the Tarpon Lodge was the best ever – might have had something to do with the extra coffee drink I had while we waited for the weather to clear 🙂 Heading back to Captiva in the light rain was fun, too, thanks to my "nice jacket". Thanks again for a great day, Captain Brian!!!

The weather looks a bit different than our trip out in April! I was sad to miss a beautiful day out on the water. I'll start counting down the days until August!

Morgan, Avocet island is a sandbar that formed off of North Cap and south of Cayo a couple of months ago. I call it Avocet Island because of the Avocet birds i saw there. I hope it is still there when you get here in March. If it is we will go there on our way to secret spot no number.
