Good Times With Elna And Lisa

Good Times With Elna And Lisa

We left the dock under a sliver of moonlight. Elna and Lisa were troopers. The first spot we went to the sun was not up yet. When the first light hit the beach we witnessed many live olives. Elna found worm shells and this little horse conch. Next we traveled north of secret spot number two in search of mini shells. We filled the box with wentletraps, tusks, rice shells, and other cool finds. On the way back to the marina we saw dolphin and manatee. Lisa and Elna were very happy with their trip. I look forward to our next day on the water.

I have been a Shelling Guide to Cayo Costa State Park since 1995. Many people know me as the Shelling Guide and Captain with Captiva Cruises over the past 20 years. In 2016 I began solely offering private small boat charters to the islands of Pine Island Sound including Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Pine Island and North Captiva. I am a certified Florida Master Naturalist, licensed USCG Captain, avocational photographer, seashell enthusiast and passionate about the history, people and culture of Southwest Florida, especially Cayo Costa. I volunteer as a member of Friends of Cayo Costa State Park and have great respect for the heritage of Cayo Costa. My goal is to provide guests with an overall experience and appreciation for the waters, islands, shells, plants, marine life, wildlife, history and people of this unique area of Southwest Florida.

That last photo is awesome!! I'm taking notes on all these secret spots – we are hitting them all next time I'm there. 🙂

That is the plan Kim, and a few surprises. The list keeps growing. Neil, David Allen….

That looks like the same horse conch that Fred and Polly found. In all my shelling escapades, I've yet to pick up a wentletrap. There's always next time…

Daybreak is the best. Jan 2013 has some super good early morning minus low tides a'coming.

Still loving the Horse Conch Jackpot. Two! One bigger then the next!

Isn't there a photo without my hand covering half of the gorgeousness of that shell?

Am I able to download any of these photos?

That minus low tide in January is calling me too…
